The Ocean City Arts Center was established in 1966 by a few far seeing residents who urged city government to convert the old Wesley Avenue school building to an arts center. As an independent, not-for-profit organization, the center soon earned a fine reputation offering over 40 classes a week, sponsoring an annual boardwalk art show, a craft show and a juried art show. In addition, we now offer a senior craft show, as well as many workshops on and off the premises. Monthly gallery exhibits along with bus trips to metropolitan museums helped many develop a growing involvement for the arts. In 1985, the aged building was deemed unsafe, and in June of 1990, the Arts Center joined some of Ocean City's finest organizations...the Free Public Library, the Ocean City Historical Museum and the Aquatic and Fitness Center. The residents of the Ocean City were privileged to have in their community the new "Community and Cultural Center". This building is located at 18th and Simpson Avenue, with ample parking, a central location on the island.
